What a phenomenal win! Diego Simeone’s team did what it took to guarantee an aggregate of 3-2 to send the team straight to the semi finals of the Champions league.

Antoine Griezmann got the opposite team eliminated after scoring two goals. The first goal came as a header from the center of the box to the top right corner during the 36th minute which was assisted by Saùl Niguez with a great precise curve.

The second goal was towards the end of the second half (88th min). Felippe Luis took the ball from his side and brought it all the way to the opposite team’s defensive lane and with a spectacular nutmeg, he eliminated Mascherano. He initially intended to pass the ball to Griezmann when Iniesta stopped it with his hand. This created the opportunity for Griezmann to convert the penalty with a left footed shift to the bottom right corner. And Goal! .

This is Barcelona’s third loss in the pace of less than two weeks. While they still had 78% possession over the ball during the first half today, the opposite team still kept its dangerous trio (Messi,Suarez & Neymar) in check and held them from scoring.

Atletico Madrid saw the light 9 minutes before the end of the first half when Griezmann scored a header. During the second half, Barcelona tried to make a comeback under pressure, but unfortunately, while they had a few chances to score, it felt like if it was not meant to happen.

At this time, Simeone’s men were already dominating with a second goal at the 88th minute by the Frenchman Griezmann who didn’t hesitate to score a spot kick to the bottom corner and sent Barcelona home to Catalogna.

Today marks the second win of Madrid, the capital of Spain, as Real Madrid also was able to steal the win from Barcelona a week and a half ago.
